WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:
The project included financing, design and construction of two major new bridges and 4 km of highways and demolition of an existing bridge across the St. Lawrence River in Montreal, Canada. The new bridge has a three-corridor design, including two three-lane corridors for vehicular traffic, a two-lane transit corridor and a multi-use pedestrian and bike path.
JMEC has been structural consultant for the design-build team and providing design and construction phase services for the signature cable stayed bridge, including ancillary items and the structural components necessary for inspection and maintenance of both the inside and outside of the bridge. These included the access walkways inside the steel box girders, maintenance gantries under the bridge with access via exterior platforms, elevators and ladders for tower interior, and davit cranes with suspended platforms/rope access for tower exterior.
